Emeritus Professor
Timothy J. Dixon
BA(Hons), PhD, Dip.Dist.Ed., FHEA, FRICS
Also known as Tim Dixon, I am Emeritus Professor at the University of Reading and Visiting Fellow/Research Associate at Kellogg College/Global Centre on Healthcare and Urbanisation, University of Oxford. My research and writing over my academic career has primarily focused on 'sustainable built environments'. I have a particular interest in city scale issues and city foresight (or 'urban futures') in the context of climate change. My work in this area has led to collaborations with cities and local authorities seeking to develop long-term visions and strategies. I have also worked on research which has focused on social sustainability assessment for house builders and on projects focused on urban regeneration. I co-led the Reading 2050 programme, and ADEPT Live Labs Project. I was also co-chair of the Reading Climate Change Partnership (2019-23) and I am a STEM Climate Ambassador and a Trustee at the Howe Trust.
